From today’s reading in the One Year Chronological Bible dated 3/27:

Judah receives their inheritance today but they did not drive out the Jebusites; “…the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.” Next Ephraim receives their inheritance but they too “…did not drive out the Canaanites who dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephramites to this day and have become forced laborers.” Lastly we read that the other half of Manasseh, including the daughters of Zelophehad as the Lord instructed back in Numbers 27, receive their inheritance. “Yet the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land. And it happened, when the children of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out.” Uh oh. This does not sound good! 😬 The Lord told them to drive the Canaanites out of the land. He did not say to make them slaves and dwell with them. Like all disobedience this is going to have a negative impact on the Israelites. Before we read about that, 7 more tribes need to settle into their home. Keep reading.
